The Chairman made the assurances today while receiving a Chinese based Power Company “Hunan Hengke Group” who has indicated interest in Construction, Generation and Distributing Electricity in the State. The Chairman revealed to the Investors that even though the state has four Hydro Dams and is the largest State in Nigeria in terms of land mass, it’s People have continued to suffer untold hardship socially and economically due to epileptic Power supply and monopoly in the Sector, hence the resolve of Farmer Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago to form the commission.
The Comissioners of licensing and enforcement Dr Ameer Shakur and Engr M S Bello of the commission during the meeting urged the Investors to take advantage of the economic potentials and abundant mineral resources of the state which is also blessed with Streams, Sun and wind to invest in renewable energy to generate Power through solar and wind turbines. The Technical Assistant to the Chairman of the Commission Mahmud Keni Ndadama on his part revealed to the Investors that the State has about 450MW installed capacity, but hardly gets up to 63 megawatts which is less than 14% of its need.
The Leader of the of Hunan Hengke Group Harvey Chen in his response assured of his Company’s preparedness to invest in Niger State giving the huge economic potentials and resources abound in the State stressing that his Company will ensure communication with the Regulatory Commission and further asserted that his Company is prepared to invest through Public, Private, Partnership and any other means convenient to the Government while asking the Commission to also commence working on the off takers.
The Hunan Hengke Group is introduced to the Commission by their Local Partners, Brain and Hammers, and talks on the investment is to continue in due course
